The Cameron County Commissioners have received many questions regarding the Per Capita/Occupational Tax bills as well as the collection notices many have received with the imposed $75.00 late fee.
Please be aware, NO resident of Cameron County is exempt from paying this tax unless they are exonerated by the Cameron County Assessment Office.
The requirement for exoneration is one of the following; Income, Full-time Student or Full-time Military Status. The Per Capita/Occupational Tax is due to your local tax collector by December 31st. If this tax is not paid to your local tax collector by December 31st, the bill becomes delinquent and the names of the delinquent taxpayers are sent to a collection agency.
If a family member passes away, it is important to contact your local tax collector so that they are removed from the taxing list. If your income or status changes, it is your responsiblity to contact your local tax collector so that those changes can be reviewed.

Cameron County - Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine
Cameron County has now been included in the PA Department of Agriculture's expansion of their spotted lanternfly quarantine. While the whole county is included in the quarantine, there may only be certain municipalities where they are actually found. Because of this, it is very important that additional sightings are reported to them or Penn State. Business and agencies that move products or conveyances within or from the quarantine areas are required to complete the spotted lanternfly permit training, which is free through Penn State Extension. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to them.
