The County of Cameron has policies in place to ensure equal opportunity in housing for all persons regardless of race, color, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), national origin, religion, familial status, handicap, ancestry and use of a guide or support animals because of the blindness, deafness or physical handicap of the user or because the user is a handler or trainer of support or guide animals.

Residents can learn more about Fair Housing and also report discrimination online through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) or the Fair Housing Law Center. HUD “is the Federal agency responsible for national policy and programs that address America's housing needs, that improve and develop the Nation's communities, and enforce fair housing laws” while The Fair Housing Law Center provides education, advocacy, and legal representation to victims of housing discrimination.
