 Primary duties of the Cameron County Sheriff's Office include courthouse security, court room security, protection of judges, inmate transport/export, service of civil orders and other process, service failure to appear and branch warrants, issue citations for vehicle code violations (if properly trained), arrest with out a warrant felonies committed in their presence, issue fire arm carry permits and license to sell permits, conduct tobacco purchase age compliance checks/enforcement, sheriff sales for real estate and other property, serve Protection From Abuse (PFA) orders, secures any relinquished weapons or issues safekeeping permits, secures relinquished firearms licenses; can make arrest for PFA violations.
